Tolle begins the chapter by telling us the problems of the mind cannot be solved on the level of the mind.  What did you think of this advice? He is talking about understanding the dysfunction of our mind we already understand the mechanics of our unconscious state of identification with the mind this creates a false self (ego) which services as a substitute for our true self (Being). Last time we discussed Tolle’s introduction to the Pain-body, he suggested we create no more pain in the present, since we are living in the now we want to avoid the pain of the past and not look ahead to what pain we might experience in the future. So the pain we create now will become the pain we experience from the past, just as we experience other pain from our past and they will join together to cloud our vision and attempt to keep us from living in the present moment, whenever that present moment is. Last time we discussed becoming enlightened and how we, like God are beings. Tolle advised us to avoid equating thinking with Being and identity with thinking. Thinking has become a disease and is out of balance and he gave us ways to regain the balance and to experience a conscience presence. When we have found that presence we find our deeper self, we are able to experience peace and stillness within. e HH He calls this state inner connectedness, where we are much more alert, more awake than in the mind-identified state. We become fully present. What does it mean to you to be fully present? In this state we feel our own presence with such an intensity, such a joy that the world disappears.
